Toooo Much Nature

So I learned everything I ever wanted to know about buffaloes and bears. They are not my friends. Well, maybe the stuffed ones are. But these aren’t stuffed.

Indiana Richard took a picture of a buffalo with his iPhone yesterday. It was way too close. He hung out of the passenger window and took the picture while I drove by slowly.(just wanted to see if you’re really reading this.) but he really did take it with the iPhone.

He took the bear picture with a really big lens, so we didn’t get too close. That was a good thing because after we took the picture, we stopped at the Yellowstone Village store and saw all the signs about how dangerous bears are. Of course, the signs were not written in  “Doodle”, so they didn’t do me any good. And all of the signs said the bear spray is not returnable also not written in Doodle.

But before we left, I did get a chance to meet Jennifer and Eric, who told me all about Buffalo. They were really nice to me. I think that’s because no one was coming up to their tent, and they were as bored as I had been sitting in the car while Richard took pictures. I also met Leonard at the bear spray rental store. Now there’s a real racket; but he was kind enough to tell me the bear spray wouldn’t work for me because I don’t have an opposable thumb and can’t hold it.

All in all, Yellowstone was good for Indiana, because he was able to take a lot of pretty pictures. I got to hang out with him all day and all night, so not so bad for this Doodle either.

  1. Duchess,

I agree with you that even seeing ONE bear at a distance is enough for me. I agree the photos are great and you have to let Richard have a little fun.

I’ve just taken a moment to write you as I got a new elk antler chew toy a few minutes ago and it is irresistible. I’ve had so many bones that are supposed to be non-destructible……this one might actually be the right one!

  2. I’ve been waiting for an entry involving Duchess sharing the driving and voila! Here it is. Yes, Duchess, I was really reading and caught your silly little joke about driving. I’m very glad you did not get too close to the bear……scary sad story in the news today but I won’t go into that until you get home (and away from the bears). It sounds like you are meeting a lot of nice people and having a good time. Well, at least you are putting on good front. And VERY soon you’ll be surprised when your next-door-neighbor from the Close appears out of nowhere! That should make you happy.

  3. Love hearing about your adventures Duchess. Keep ’em coming! Also, keep an eye on Indiana Richard for us! LOL!! xoxoSandy

  4. Hello Duchess! We met you on the 16th in Yellowstone as you were headed out on a little walk/break. You were kind enough to let us pet you and take a few pictures of you! Thank you for the opportunity to meet you as we were super lonesome for our own dogs that were at home and you made us feel better! I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip in Wyoming!
