The further west we go, the stranger he gets

We are now in Deadwood South Dakota. We stopped at what appears to be a famous place called Wall Drugs near Rapid City, South Dakota. It was here that I met my first Jackalope. She wasn’t intimidating at all. In fact, I have the strangest feeling that I have met her before. She smells very much like a rabbit, but with horns. Richard let me sniff her for a fair amount of time. But then he saw a rack of hats. I tried to pull him out of it, but he bought an Indiana Jones hat. If I knew how to laugh, I would have. The best I could do is grin A LOT. I don’t think he would have the nerve to wear this in Williamsburg. However, to me, he will always be known as Indiana Richard.

Once we got to Deadwood, I also had a chance to meet a bull.  After the fox incident in August, I thought I would have a real problem with wild animals. But as you can see, he let me pose with him. I could get used to this.

Yep, Duchess, the West is vast, wild but beautiful! I believe your interests will lie in the “aromas” that abound in the wildlife, never before experienced by someone as sophisticated as yourself. Best be a bit aware of your surroundings as hunters abound, rifle at the ready, at the least of movement. Perhaps not to worry as this newfound Indiana Richard has begun to affect to his reputation; protector of the cause! The West seeps into newcomers, changing them forever. Cowboy hats, spurs and the smells of horses. . . . never to be accepted again in the halls of William and Mary!
