Duchess’s Woes: A Reluctant Canine’s Tale of Wyoming Travels

Hello, all! Duchess here, with my continued tale of woe. Richard, in his infinite wisdom, has decided to take me on a trip to Wyoming. Now, before you get all excited about cowboys and wide-open spaces, let me tell you why this dog is less than thrilled:

First things first, Wyoming is known for its majestic mountains. But let me ask you this: Have you ever seen this dog climb a mountain? I’m content with our jaunt up to Merchant Square. What’s the point of climbing a mountain when I have perfectly good PAVED WALK outside? I’ll pass, thank you very much.

And the wildlife. Now, I’ve seen my fair share of squirrels and birds in my garden, but Wyoming takes things to a whole new level. Bears and snakes. Is he out of his mind? He has Bear Spray on his shopping list.  Now, if he has to get close enough to a bear to spray it, what chance do you think I have?  We have already had our taste of last year’s rabid fox.   I’ll stick with the occasional squirrel, thank you very much.

Let’s not forget about the weather. Wyoming is famous for its extreme temperatures, and let me tell you, my perfect coat, poofed twice a month by GROOMING DIVAS, was not designed for extreme weather conditions. I prefer the nice, temperate climate here.  And a week in Maine or Vermont this August would not be outrageous.

And finally, there’s the issue of long car rides. Sitting in a cramped Mini Cooper for endless hours is not exactly my idea of humane conditions.

So, there you have it. Wyoming might be a dream destination for him, but this Duchess prefers the comforts home in Williamsburg. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the thought, but let’s just say I could use your help.  An email or text to Richard suggesting I stay with you would be good.

Quite the tale of misery and woe and the trip has not even started yet. Think of the stories Duchess will tell her doggie day care chums. She will be Top Dog!

Thanks for following my blog. It is about the only thing I have to do at night. Richard does not get out very much.

      Duchess.

  2. Hello Duchess, this is Dale, human friend of Richard’s, remember me? I think your trip sounds exciting, I am a little envious actually.

Is your mini well stocked with doggie treats?

    1. Dale. Thanks for following my Blog. It is about in only thing I have to do at night. Richard does not get out much.

      Duchess

  3. We all know you adore spending time with Richard, Duchess, wherever you are! It’s going to be an amazing trip!

  4. Hi Dutchess, this is your neighbor Leith sister Jane. This trip sound exciting, like an adventure for you. Think of all the new smells you’re going to sniff! That’s what you like to do right? You might even meet up with someone you know.. I hope you’ll post pictures for us. Look forward to hearing how it all goes and don’t forget road trips allow you to nap a lot!
    Enjoy….

  5. Duchess, in response to your suggestion that we email or text Richard to say you should stay with us, been there, done that!! Many, many, many times. No luck, though, so since my efforts failed in the past, I’m sure they would this time, too.
    Sorry, Puppy Dog. I tried.

Duchess, if it gets too bad, try to convince Richard to drop you off with us on the west coast of Michigan.

  7. Hi Duchess ~ Instead of your staying with us here in Williamsburg next time, perhaps we can join you? Sounds like a great adventure!

  8. Dutchess….you can stay with Ted and I. Our little boys “kitties” would love playing with you

  9. This is a great idea, Duchess! Just think of all the wonderful memories you will have when you come home to Williamsburg. Home will look sooooo good! Safe travels.
